About Creating a Waitlist for your Course

When your department registrar offers  your course, you may ask that your course be set up with an automated waitlist. A waitlist can be added at any point during registration.  The waitlist opens to students when the course is full (reaches the maximum enrollment as determined by the instructor).

A few important things to keep in mind.

  • Lectures with discussion sections may not have a waitlist. The affiliated discussion sections may have waitlists.
  • The system is automated and instructors have no way of changing the order of students on the waitlist.
  • Waitlisting is only an option during the registration period. Waitlists are removed after registration closes and are not an option during add/drop period. If you wish to know the names of the students that were on the waitlist when registration closed, ask your departmental registrar to run a Jaspersoft report before or immediately after registration closes.
